Global Health Policy Lab

Berlin

The Global Health Policy Lab (GHPL) is a joint initiative of the Charité Center for Global Health, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and the Virchow Foundation, working to strengthen transparency and effectiveness in health policy making, through an open-access digital policy repository and an annual outlook report on global health policy trends.

I designed GHPL's logo, Nexus, which is built on a circular structure organized around a central point, placing the global perspective at its core. Its geometry references the semicircular seating of parliamentary chambers, the hemicycle, a form associated across many countries with open dialogue, consultation, and consensus. Overlapping, angled segments break the circle's symmetry, giving the mark its own structural identity while introducing a spiral logic, a form long associated with growth, cycles, and development.

One detail sits below the surface: the segments are angled at 23.4 degrees, the tilt of the Earth's axis. Invisible at a glance, it ties the mark's geometry directly to the Lab's global scope.
